LA MATURITA’ DI CARLA MARCIANO
E’ bello ritrovare e riascoltare Carla Marciano, grande sassofonista italiana, che ha appena pubblicato il suo nuovo CD, pubblicato dalla “Black Saint” ed intitolato “Change Of Mood”. Un progetto che trovo ricco di sfaccettature espressive e denso di belle atmosfere. In esso si esprime sicuramente quella incontenibile performer che io definii “URAGANO”, ma c’è anche una musicista matura, capace di un’intensità poetica e di una sensibilità davvero notevoli. L’ascoltatore più attento ed esigente non esiterà a trovare in questo CD delle vibranti composizioni equilibrate, spumeggianti ed irruente, ma al tempo stesso anche ampie, dosate, ricche di solidità. Sì, decisione, determinazione ed incredibili “fughe” dal grande temperamento, dai “mille colori”, ma sempre all’insegna di un saggio, tempestivo e rassicurante controllo. Insomma, la maturità di Carla Marciano,che mette in risalto le tue caratteristiche di base, l’ identità istintiva, quasi inquieta, di questa sanguigna partenopea, ma anche la sua capacità di analisi e di studio, il tutto “condìto” da una fresca sensibilità che magicamente dosa ogni “ingrediente” con grande sapienza. Il gruppo, formato dai fedelissimi Alessandro La Corte al piano, Aldo Vigorito al contrabbasso e Gaetano Fasano alla batteria, come sempre si rivela felicemente “complice”, con solida, swingante ed incalzante caratteristica di accompagnamento, ma anche capace di esprimersi autonomamente, con performances personali godibili ed in sintonia con il progetto, che si profila come uno tra i più sanguigni ed impetuosi di questi ultimi tempi, confermando Carla Marciano non certo più una gran bella “promessa”, ma come una delle presenze più autorevoli e vincenti del nuovo panorama jazzistico italiano.

It is great to meet and listen again to Carla Marciano, the great Italian saxophonist, who has just published her new cd on the “Black Saint” label and which is entitled “Change Of Mood”. This is a project that I find is rich in expressive aspects together with wonderful atmospheres. In this cd she surely expresses herself as that irrepressible performer that I define as a “HURRICANE”, but here there is also a mature musician, capable of creating intense poetics as well as having a truly remarkable sensitivity. The most attentive and demanding listener will not hesitate in finding vibrant, balanced, bubbly and impetuous compositions in this cd, yet at the same time, he will also find others which are wide-ranging, measured and rich in solidity. Yes, decision, determination and incredible “breakers” of the rules of great temperament, these are “multi-coloured”, but they are always in the pursuit of a wise, timely and reassuring control. In short, the maturity of Carla Marciano, which highlights her basic characteristics, her instinctive, almost unnerving identity, of this native southerner, but also her skills regarding analysis and study, everything “seasoned” with a fresh sensitivity that magically and knowledgeably measures each “ingredient”. The group, consisting of the faithful Alessandro La Corte on the piano, Aldo Vigorito on the double bass and Gaetano Fasano on the drums, as always they happily “favour” the music, with their solid, swinging and driving accompaniment, but Carla is also capable of working alone, with her elegant and incisive performances, in harmony with the project that is outlined as one of the most sanguine and impetuous of recent times, confirming in this way Carla Marciano as one of the most authoritative and winning figures of the new Italian jazz scene.
